Signal Noiseからリリース予定のMerzbowの新作『Sedonis』を記念して、2024年8月4日（日）に東京・小岩BUSHBASHで、レーベルのディレクターであるKikù Hibinoを迎えてショーケース・イベントを開催いたします。このイベントは、SETENVと共同主催で行われます。
シカゴ発のレーベル、Signal Noise（SN）は、前衛的な電子音楽、ノイズ、そしてビデオアートのための独立系プラットフォームとして、その独自のビジョンを貫き、次世代の音とアートの可能性を追求しています。2021年にGregory BaeとKikù Hibinoによって設立されたSNは、Ana Paula Santana、Kikù Hibino、Marcus Fischer、Peter Speer、Sam Prekopといったアーティストのライブ作品を発表し、音楽とアートの境界を超える活動を展開してきました。Gregory Baeの逝去後は、ビジュアル・ディレクションをJoe Gilmoreが担当し、彼の手掛ける視覚的アイデンティティはSNの独自性を象徴しています。

To celebrate Merzbow’s joining of the Signal Noise, we will hold a label showcase on August 4, 2024 (Sunday) at Koiwa BUSHBASH in Tokyo. This event is co-hosted with the Tokyo-based creative team SETENV. Signal Noise (SN), an independent platform from Chicago, is dedicated to avant-garde electronic music, noise, and video art. Founded in 2021 by Gregory Bae and Kikù Hibino, SN has released live works by artists such as Ana Paula Santana, Kikù Hibino, Marcus Fischer, Peter Speer, and Sam Prekop, pushing the boundaries of sound and art. After Gregory Bae’s passing, Joe Gilmore took over visual direction, whose designs symbolize SN’s unique identity.

Merzbow：
秋田昌美によるヴィーガン・ストレイト・エッジ・ノイズ・プロジェクト。80年代初頭のノイズ・インダストリアル・シーンに参加し海外のレーベルを中心にリリースを始める。90年代にはグラインドコアの影響を受けデスメタルのレーベルRelapseからアルバムをリリース。2000年代にはmegoの「punkなcomputer music」に共鳴、ラップトップによるライブ手法を採用した。2003年頃から「動物の権利」（アニマルライツ）の観点からヴィーガン（完全菜食主義）を実践している。「捕鯨反対」「イルカ漁反対」「毛皮反対」等をテーマに作品を制作している。近年はアナログ、デジタルにとらわれない自由な音作りを行っている。

Kikù Hibino: 
“When I think of nature, I often envision the primordial Earth, bathed in intense sunlight and radiation. Last year, I witnessed a volcanic eruption in Iceland up close, and it was an overwhelmingly inhuman scene.
For me, the act of creating music is about finding humanity through imagination while wandering in such a harsh world. It is human consciousness that can measure the eternal past and the fleeting present, and I believe that music holds the key to uncovering the secrets of that consciousness.“ – Kikù Hibino
Sound artist Kikù Hibino has dedicated his career to exploring the complex interplay between nature’s inherent structures and human imagination through electronic music. Inspired by the intricate beauty of human languages, natural patterns, optical illusions, and moiré effects, Kikù creates electronic compositions that challenge traditional rhythmic structures and melodies, inviting listeners into a world where linear and non-linear elements converge harmoniously.
He has collaborated internationally with a wide variety of artists and scholars, including Ana Paula Santana, Whitney Johnson, Baudouin Saintyves, Yuge Zhou, Mitsu Salmon, Kawaguchi Takao (Dumb Type), Theaster Gates, Mike Weis (Zelienople), Norma Field, and Joe Gilmore.
Kikù’s latest works have been released on Superpang, Chicago’s Reserve Matinee, and Signal Noise. His work has been exhibited at the Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago, Bemis Center For Contemporary Arts, Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, Experimental Sound Studio, Chicago Cultural Center, Three Walls, Compound Yellow, Elastic Arts, Hairpin Arts Center, Hyde Park Art Center, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, among others. He is a 2017 Individual Artist Grant recipient from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and a 2021 Outer Ear Artist in Residency at Experimental Sound Studio.
Kikù lives and works in Chicago.

アキオ ジェイムス
シカゴ出身のドラマー。2018年にアメリカから日本に渡り、現在は会津若松に在住。日本では、坂田明、秋山徹次、Tatsuya Nakataniなど、多くのミュージシャンと共演している。
2021年には、自身が録音した即興音源『Multipresence』をリリース。2024年にはバンド「goat」に加入し、メンバーとして海外ツアーや海外フェスに出演している。
